A DESIGN THAT INTERPRETS THE JOURNEY: Multistrada V4 Rally evolves, every line meeting a need, every detail designed for travel. Each element is built to optimize ergonomics and protection, while the brushed steel tank highlights the bike’s character, adding a distinctive touch.
UNMISTAKABLE MULTISTRADA DESIGN: The design of Multistrada V4 Rally flaunts the distinctive traits that make the Multistrada family so iconic: front-loaded mass, a slim and lightweight tail, and a compact front end. Elements that take the language of Ducati Superbikes and add a crossover-type twist. The front view showcases the double headlight, emphasized by painted surfaces that add to the stage presence. A silencer, a sharper profile, and a sound that only adds to the Ducati sports DNA round out the design.
ELEMENT DESIGN SERVES A PURPOSE: On the Multistrada V4 Rally, form follows function. The need for greater range led to a redesign of the bike’s front end, with more powerful shoulders that, no higher than before, integrate perfectly with the narrow, ergonomic central section. From side on, the tank becomes a key design feature. Produced in brushed aluminum, it is enhanced with updated “Rally” lettering on the fin and protected by a lateral plate that, as well as protecting surfaces against any knee rubbing, takes on an aesthetic role. The combination of different surfaces and materials gives the front-end a technical, muscular look, highlighting the bike’s distinctive character. Given the Multistrada V4 Rally’s propensity for adventurous travel, the lower skid plate is larger with respect to the Multistrada V4, better protecting the engine from any impacts.
HEIGHTENED PASSENGER COMFORT: The ideal choice for long-range two-up travel, the Multistrada V4 Rally guarantees optimum comfort for the passenger, with side and top case fittings that maximize leg and torso space, to significantly increase the freedom of movement and comfort of the person sitting behind. In addition, a die-cast support makes the top case more stable and secure, better supporting the passenger. Customization is also possible, with a choice of different seat heights for rider and passenger as well as a lower suspension kit to suit any two-up configuration. To improve thermal comfort aboard the Multistrada V4 Rally, ducts in the leg area are adjustable and can use the heat released by the engine during the coldest months. The two heat shields, positioned respectively on the rear subframe and on the swingarm, reduce the heat perceived by both rider and passenger. Lastly, two deflectors located close to where hot air exits the radiator, adjacent to the tank’s aluminum fin, help to keep heat away from the legs, reducing the perceived temperature.
GP-DERIVED AERODYNAMICS: The Multistrada V4 Rally harnesses all the aerodynamics knowledge and experience Ducati has gained in MotoGP to improve comfort, quality and riding pleasure. The front-end features aerodynamic deflectors to increase protection, particularly for the passenger, dragging the aerodynamic air flow further back with respect to the Multistrada V4 and V4 S and extending the area of calm air behind the fairing.
BRAND-NEW GLOBETROTTER LIVERY: The Multistrada V4 Rally is now available with two liveries, both of which play on the contrast between the Ducati Red and Jade Green painted parts, the dark mechanical base and the brushed aluminum tank. The Jade Green/Brushed Aluminum livery recalls the tones traditionally linked to the adventure world, the matte green standing out against the visible aluminum of the tank and the gold-colored rim channel boldly highlighting the globetrotting vocation of the Multistrada V4 Rally.
AESTHETICS FOR ADVENTURE: Sporty in spirit, elegant in shape. The Multistrada V4 Rally flaunts a bolder look without losing any of the balance and harmony that is Multistrada style. A balanced design for an authentic globetrotting vibe.
Electronic Riding Aid Systems
ABS CORNERING: Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Cornering functionality acts as a function of lean angle, using data from the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), to increase safety when braking in corners.
BLIND SPOT DETECTION (BSD): The BSD (Blind Spot Detection) system signals vehicles that are in the blind spot of vision via the LEDs positioned on the rear-view mirrors, illuminating the one positioned on the side where it detects the presence of a vehicle. The BSD also signals the approaching from behind of vehicles at high speed.
ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC) AND FORWARD COLLISION WARNING: Adaptive cruise control, also known by the acronym ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control), is an electronic control system that adjusts the speed of the vehicle while automatically maintaining a safe distance (selectable on four levels) from the vehicles in front. This makes it possible to ride at a constant speed on a motorway, for example, without twisting the throttle. The Forward Collision Warning system warns the rider in case of a sudden approach.
CRUISE CONTROL: Electronic system introduced by Ducati for the first time in 2014 on the Multistrada 1200 that allows you to automatically maintain the speed set by the rider without twisting the throttle.
DUCATI BRAKE LIGHT EVO (DBL): System that flashes taillight and 4 arrows to signal hard braking to following vehicles.
DUCATI QUICK SHIFTER (DQS): Electronic system derived from racing that allows you to change gears without using the clutch and without closing the throttle when shifting to a higher gear.
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT (DRL): These are the daytime running lights that are used to comply with the obligation to use dipped headlights during the day.
DUCATI SKYHOOK SUSPENSION (DSS): Semi-active suspension management system that "reads" the road and modifies the suspension reaction to offer greater comfort while driving and reduce load transfers in the case of decisive braking and acceleration, to the benefit of control
DUCATI TRACTION CONTROL (DTC): System that detects rear wheel slippage and automatically cuts power to limit or zero it, depending on the settings chosen by the user.
ENGINE BRAKE CONTROL (EBC): System that allows you to control the level of engine braking when the throttle is released and choose whether to have more or less braking.
EXTENDED CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (ECD): Shutting off the rear cylinders at idle when the bike is stationary, and the deactivation strategy extends to the entire rear bank even at low speeds, when the engine speed and torque demand from the accelerator are low.
DUCATI WHEELIE CONTROL (DWC): System that controls the wheelie and allows you to achieve maximum acceleration performance with ease and safety.
EASY LIFT: System that, when key ON, opens the suspension hydraulics to speed up static lowering of the vehicle when straightening from a prone position. This reduces the effort required to lift the bike off the side stand.
AUTOMATIC LOWERING DEVICE: System that automatically adjusts the preload of the monoshock to change the height of the bike. At low speeds (ed. below 6 mph) the preload is instantly raised to the minimum to make it easier for the rider to touch the ground. When speed increases (ed. above 31 mph) the preload is returned to the preset value, returning the bike to the optimum set-up for the riding dynamics. The function can be disabled by the user.
RIDE-BY-WIRE SYSTEM: Also known as electronic accelerator, it is a system that electronically manages the opening and closing of the throttle (s).
VEHICLE HOLD CONTROL (VHC): It enables smoother and safer hill starts even with a passenger and a fully loaded motorcycle. When the brake lever is pulled firmly, the system activates while keeping the vehicle stationary by acting on the rear brake. When the clutch is released to start and the system automatically releases the rear brake. The automatic action on the rear brake can also be deactivated with a close double pumping of the brake lever.
DUCATI CORNERING LIGHT (DCL): LED lights that turn on in the direction of the road, according to a defined lean angle when the bike is facing a curve, allowing the rider to better see the road
Electronics
INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS FOR EVERY ADVENTURE: The electronics on board the Multistrada V4 Rally are designed to offer versatility and control in every situation. The intelligent systems adapt to the rider and their style, transforming every trip into a tailor-made experience and heightening the riding pleasure.
AUTO SUSPENSION MODE WITH DETECTION OF RIDING STYLE AND ROAD SURFACE: The suspension incorporates a system that can identify the type of off-road terrain or the riding style a rider displays in any moment, calibrating the suspension to ensure the best possible control. The first strategy is activated when Offroad Suspension Mode is selected in AUTO mode and identifies whether the bike is travelling on a low difficulty or more demanding dirt road. The second strategy is activated in all Suspension Modes in AUTO mode and analyses the rider’s riding style.
ASSISTED SHIFTING WITH DUCATI QUICK SHIFT 2.0: The gearbox on the Multistrada V4 Rally is electronically assisted by the DQS 2.0, which adopts a strategy based solely on the gear drum’s positioning sensor. This solution allows for the use of a connecting rod without microswitch and guarantees the rider more direct feeling, with reduced travel.
TRAVEL-ORIENTED DUCATI VEHICLE OBSERVER (DVO) AND UPDATED BRAKING STRATEGIES: The dedicated traction and wheelie control systems evolve thanks to the algorithm developed by Ducati Corse, known as Ducati Vehicle Observer (DVO). Inherited from the Panigale V4, the DVO allows for an instant estimate of physical, kinematic and dynamic parameters that cannot be directly measured in practice, for the calibration of electronic control intervention. The Multistrada V4 Rally offers the utmost active safety thanks to the cornering function of its Bosch 10.3ME ABS applied to the Brembo system, which receives bike lean data from the inertial platform in real time and integrates this with the Riding Mode to automatically adapt its intervention to the riding conditions. Stability and safety are improved with the Electronic Combined Braking System that, with ABS level 3 - the default setting in Urban, Wet and Touring Riding Mode - modulates the action at front and rear. The system now acts with both front-to-rear and rear-to-front logic, depending on the rider’s action and the bike’s predisposition. On activating the front brake control, front-to-rear logic also activates the rear brake where needed, to improve the system’s performance and increase bike stability. As well as helping to slow the bike, rear-to-front logic is dynamically efficient, for suspension compression when cornering that, by lowering the center of gravity, allows the Multistrada V4 Rally to hold an even tighter line.
RADAR TECHNOLOGY AS STANDARD WITH ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL AND BLIND SPOT DETECTION: Multistrada V4 was the world’s first production bike to adopt front and rear radar technology, an advanced riding aid that heightens riding comfort and safety by reconstructing the reality around the bike. Adaptive Cruise Control automatically adjusts the distance (according to one of four levels) from other vehicles when traveling at speeds between 18 and 100 mph using controlled braking and acceleration. The automotive-derived system has been developed based on the dynamics and ergonomic of a two-wheel vehicle. The system’s ability to decelerate and accelerate is limited to ensure that the rider can maintain constant control of the bike in every situation, and the system can be deactivated or adjusted via dedicated buttons on the left block. With the Blind Spot Detection system, the rear radar, positioned below the taillight, can detect vehicles that enter the blind spot, an area not visible to the rider or the rear-view mirror. The system alerts the rider with LED lights on the rear-view mirrors and provides a warning as to any vehicles approaching at high speed. Front Collision Warning can identify any potential collisions before they occur. Thanks to the radar located at the front of the vehicle, the system displays a high-visibility warning on the dashboard, alerting the rider in time and allowing them to make riding corrections where necessary.
ELECTRONIC CONTROLS FOR GREATER SAFETY: The Multistrada V4 Rally electronics package integrates latest-generation systems to increase safety and riding comfort. Deriving from Ducati Corse experience, Engine Brake Control (EBC) allows the rider to select the engine brake intensity at the rear wheel when closing the throttle. The system offers three levels of intervention, which can be selected within each Riding Mode. Brake Light EVO improves visibility. When deceleration exceeds a certain limit, the rear stop light starts to flash at high frequency. The system now also activates the hazard light, which turns off once the rider begins to accelerate again. An integral part of the Ducati Safety Pack, Ducati Traction Control manages any loss of rear wheel grip, integrating wheel speed data from the sensors and the inertial platform, while also considering lean angle. DTC can control rear wheel slide, increasing the bike’s performance and active safety. The system offers eight levels of intervention depending on the conditions and a rider’s ability and riding style. Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) heightens rider safety, analyzing the bike setting to detect any wheelieing and manage engine delivery accordingly. DWC is integrated into the Riding Modes and can be adjusted according to 8 levels. The system remains precise on the Multistrada V4 Rally even when the overall bike mass varies, with passenger or luggage, thanks to the DVO.
THREE AVAILABLE POWER MODES AND FIVE RIDING MODES: The Multistrada V4 Rally offers three Power Modes and five Riding Modes, to adapt engine delivery and riding assistance systems to suit the situation and rider preferences. Sport Riding Mode. The most high-performance on asphalt. In this Riding Mode, the Multistrada V4 Rally unleashes its full 170 hp with a direct, spirited response, supported by a Skyhook suspension sports setting. The ideal choice for expert riders who want to really enjoy the performance of the Multistrada V4 Rally. Touring Riding Mode. Maximum power remains at 170 hp but delivery is smoother and more progressive. Higher DTC and DWC intervention levels make for greater controllability of the vehicle, while ABS is set to level 3, the safest and most prudential. The suspension setting is designed for long-distance travel and offers maximum comfort for the rider and passenger. Wet Riding Mode. Designed for riding on low grip surfaces, or in the wet. This mode limits maximum power to 115 hp with a particularly gentle throttle response (Low Power Mode). The predefined level of the electronic controls is set to offer maximum safety, ensuring the best possible traction and stability even when the grip conditions are less than ideal. Urban Riding Mode. Power output is reduced to 115 hp with a particularly gentle and progressive response, while suspension calibration adapts to any urban obstacles such as bumps, potholes or manholes, effectively managing the continual changes in surface. ABS is set to level 3. Enduro Riding Mode. Showcases the off-road qualities of the Multistrada V4 Rally. Power is limited to 114 hp with a Delicate Engine Mode, characterized by a more dynamic, direct response than that associated with Urban Mode. The Enduro Riding Mode also sets up DSS Evolution specifically for off-road riding, indicated the selected load mode. DTC and DWC systems are set at a lower level, and ABS is set to level 1, suitable for off-road use on low-grip surfaces.
6.5” DASHBOARD AND HANDS-FREE IGNITION: The Multistrada V4 Rally is equipped with a 6.5” TFT dashboard with mineral glass to ensure excellent readability in all conditions. Complete and easily legible graphics include a circular rev counter with digital needle, gear indicator, fuel level, external temperature, engine temperature, electronic control levels, Riding Mode, suspension setting and GPS map. The latter is activated via the Sygic GPS app, operating via a phone’s mirroring function. Management of the functions is simple and intuitive thanks to the joystick located on the left block, while dedicated keys allow for immediate adjustment of the Riding Mode and suspension calibration. Standard equipment is rounded out with the tire pressure monitoring system, for continuous, safe control during every trip. The Multistrada V4 Rally exploits the Hands-Free ignition system, allowing the user to keep the key in their pocket and switch on the bike with the dedicated button. The fuel tank is opened with the mechanical “flip” key integrated into the electronic key, or the user can select the optional keyless fuel cap.
